Construction at the Ilmala Aura construction site is already well underway. The work that started in June 2022 has progressed well on schedule. Last fall, the foundation stone was laid at the Aura construction site, and now the office building has already risen to crest height. Hartela invests in work safety in many ways, and it can be seen positively at the Aura site as well. In the spring, it was already 200 days without work accidents. Hartela’s construction manager Aleksi Valli ensures that work safety is remembered on the construction site every day.
The construction of Ilmala Aura, which will be completed in a year in the summer of 2024, is currently in the frame phase. The floors are rising at the planned pace and the frame will be completed during the spring. The rooftop waterproofing work will probably start in May. As the walls rise, the construction progresses to the interior phase. Floor castings have already been done in the parking garage in March and next we will move to the upper floors.
– A good work pace has been maintained at the construction site and the winter weather conditions did not slow down the construction. The tram line that has been running next to the construction site since the fall has brought new things to consider in the work planning, but we have been able to anticipate and organize the challenges related to conductor wires, for example, at the time of element installations, says Aleksi Valli, Aura’s construction manager.
During the construction phase we cooperate with several partners. The owner of the neighboring plot, YLE, has brought relief to the everyday life of the construction site by renting space on the plot for storage. There has also been fruitful cooperation with Granlund already in the planning phase and in building engineering contract negotiations.
Construction manager Aleksi Valli praises the cooperating parties for their good work spirit and flexibility. A big thank you also goes to the builders, of whom there are currently around 50 on the site and, in total, up to 100 during the construction project. Work safety and responsibility have been conscientiously taken care of at the construction site.
– It is important to us at Hartela that everyone gets home safely from work. At Aura’s construction site safety is highlighted every day and it is an important part of management. The investment has paid off and we just got a top result of 99.1 from the TR measurement of the Regional Administration Office, rejoices Aleksi Valli.
Responsibility can be seen during construction, in addition to investing in occupational safety, e.g. in complying with the environmental goals of the LEED Gold certification for the office building. Hartela’s sustainability roadmap guides construction sites to monitor energy consumption, operate material efficiently and recycle construction waste. The site’s responsibility is monitored using the company’s metrics and audits.
Ilmala Aura is owned by Union Investment, but Hartela, which developed the project, still works as the site’s builder. In this way Hartela is responsible for the entire process. From the first plans to the handover of the finished office building. Considering the customer’s needs throughout the entire journey together.
